Constantia Green Belt

This months Nature Walk was organised by Shirley and we had a treasure hunt to find a bunch of things like a bird's nest and fungus. We also had to listen for sounds like the wind in the leaves, and running water.

It started raining quite hard at one point but all the children seemed to enjoy being out-doors anyway.

Now Nathan just has to get used to walking longer distances without needing piggy-back rides from mom!

Puzzle Fun

We have had quite a puzzle morning. You were both so patient especially since the four 36 piece puzzles were mixed up.

Jake manages unseen 12 piece puzzles on his own and Nathan did the 36 piece with a bit of verbal help. They just have to be in the right mood to persevere!

Structures

Had such a successful structure build with spaghetti and marshmellows. Nathan managed easily and think I'll have to trust him with a whole packet of marshies and see what else he comes up with.

Fudge

We have been doing livestock farming at our school and this has lead to dairy products. What a good excuse to use some condensed milk to make fudge.

29 Days to Kickoff!

We went to a concert at the Greenpoint Stadium today. What fun to see the stadium although you did wonder why there was no soccer game going on.

Face Cloth Bunnies

Continuing with our bunny theme, now we are on to making them out of face cloths. We need at least 10 for the family on Easter Sunday - the plan is to hide them and then the Easter Bunny will pop a chocolate egg in each one.

But they are also going to be made for friends, neighbours, the hairdresser etc, so these little guys are really going to be breeding like rabbits!

They are relatively easy to make, cheap, and useful as a face cloth too.

Easter Bunnies

We decided to make containers to leave carrots for the Easter Bunny.

Easter Baskets

Starting to get in to the swing of Easter. Hoping to bring in some of the celebration of a resurrected Saviour although the boys seem quite happy to be celebrating all things chocolate.

These baskets are meant for collecting the stash of treats left behind by the Easter Bunny - he is going to be one busy rabbit at our place!

Edible Beetle game

Here are the parts waiting to be made into an insect.

Bit of a stange creature, but it does have 6 legs, a body, head, 2 eyes, 2 feelers and a tongue. Nathan did really well knowing his numbers on the dice, and what fun getting to eat the prize!

Rocket in the sky

This was such a fun poster to make. Nathan enjoyed sticking stars on to the night sky and creating lots of 'shooting stars' with glitter glue.

Chocolate for puzzles!

Aunty Jay was visiting and had to bribe Nathan to finish this 63 piece puzzle. We did do it together, but even so he found it rather tricky with lots of pieces of similar colours.

Rocket Biscuits

We made Custard biscuits with a difference today - in Rocket shape. Very yummy and Nathan enjoyed adding the sprinkles and planning who they were for. The smallest was for Jake.

Lego Building

Today we made a Lego Creator helicopter. We started at 8.30am and finally finished at 11am with only a short break. Nathan managed most of the building with a bit of help finding the pieces and being shown which picture to follow in the instruction booklet. He can definitely concentrate on one thing for a good length of time.
